Meet the Fam…
We are the modern day Brady Bunch. So here’s the story…
Okay wait, don’t get me wrong - we’re not nine white people living under one roof. However, we are a blended family consisting of a mom, a dad, and children who are not all related by DNA. Our story begins in 2014 when this lady (me) met this dashing young fellow (my husband). Then in the summer of 2015, in front of our family and friends (I use this term loosely), we made it official and got married.
Since then, we’ve been living our happily ever after. Our lives together has endured many curveballs, but we’ve made it through each of them.
After five years as a unit, we’ve mostly figured it all out. However, as our kids grow, we’re reminded that time waits for no one. We’re continuously watching our then 15, 7, and 3-year old kids transform into our 21, 13, and 8-year old adults and young adults.
I can only speak for myself when I say that watching our children grow and thrive has been a blessing, but I don’t like it. I miss my babies! When Yusuf and I got married, we both decided that we didn’t want to have anymore children based on our own personal experiences. However, as time has passed, our extended family (momma and them) seems to bombard us with the question and expectation of completing the family blending process. Sure, children help to bridge gaps, but they are also a lot of work. And neither of us are getting any younger!
So, I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that the people in these pictures have my whole heart now.
